Good morning Riverside Beat,

Here's our third and final priority. Moving into the Spring, the beat team now have fresh priorities to focus on. One of our priorities will be Offences in Open Spaces.

Aim

As the weather improves, parks and open spaces naturally become busier. Spring provides the perfect opportunity to build strong foundations ahead of the summer months to keep these areas safe, welcoming, and well‑used by the community.

Actions

To address concerns and prevent offences in our open spaces, the team will be:

Patrolling key locations such as Castle Gardens, Nelson Mandela Park, DMU grounds, Thirlmere Gardens, and other open spaces to engage with users and deter offenders.

Holding community engagement sessions in parks to give residents scheduled opportunities to speak with their local beat team, raise concerns, or simply stop by for a chat.

Planning targeted operations aimed at identifying offenders and preventing re-offending.

Working closely with the local council and landowners to ensure the best safety measures and environmental improvements are put in place.

Exploring support options for individuals using the parks for shelter or in ways not intended, ensuring safeguarding and appropriate referrals where needed.

This list is not exhaustive, and all actions relating to this priority will be documented as the work progresses.
